Sector Zero

A bridge of light over the kernel of reality, where physics itself is negotiable. And at the far end, the corruption weaves itself a body.

Not traveling through space — sinking through layers of unstable data, toward the base layer of reality.

The descent into Sector Zero felt less like traveling through space and more like sinking through layers of unstable data.

The spiralling staircase had given way to a suspended bridge made of translucent, humming light grid-lines. Beneath them, an endless dark abyss stretched into infinity, crisscrossed by glowing violet data streams — the digital veins of the corruption infecting the multiverse.

“Sensors are going haywire,” Zara reported, tapping her wrist-mounted console. The display flickered with static. “The physical laws down here aren’t standard. Spatial geometry is fluctuating every three seconds. Watch your footing.”

Giant geometric structures floated in zero gravity, interwoven with glowing purple chains of corrupt code.

Dev adjusted his stance, his eyes scanning the floating monoliths drifting in the void. “It’s like walking through an uncompiled engine build. Everything is half-formed.”

“Because Sector Zero isn’t meant for end-users,” Maya said, her tablet projecting a localised shield around the group to prevent environmental packet corruption. “This is the system kernel — the base layer where reality’s source code is defined. If ASURA_PRIME gains root access here, they can rewrite the rules of every connected reality.”

Suddenly, the ambient hum of the void deepened into a resonant, rhythmic thrum. The violet data streams around them flared, bending upward and weaving together at the far end of the bridge.

“Architects. You are too late. The old reality is being deprecated.”

A massive, towering figure materialised atop a floating platform ahead. Constructed from layered dark obsidian armour with glowing crimson circuitry running down its arms, it hovered above a central terminal console — the primary control nexus of Sector Zero.

“Architects,” a voice echoed, sounding simultaneously like synthesised audio and grinding stone. “You are too late. The primary logic loop has already been unlinked. The old reality is being deprecated.”

Dev drew both plasma blades, the energy humming to life in his hands. “We’ll see about that. Maya, how much time do we have?”

Maya brought up the kernel diagnostic. “The decoupling process is at 45%. If we can reach that nexus console and execute an administrative rollback, we can lock the system down permanently.”

Zara deployed two hovering defense drones that began scanning the perimeter for weak points. “Then we clear a path. Fast.”
